Research
My research phase was primarily focused on seeing how luxury brands utilized AR, and how ARunway could be a useful tool to a variety of consumers while focusing on those who don't have access to luxury brands. I then created an empathy map and underwent a design exercise that allowed me to look at ARunway with a critical eye in order to get a better understanding of what I wanted the experience to be. Lastly, I created a journey map and story boards so that I could better layout the experience when it came to make high fidelity screens and the prototype.
Sketching & High Fidelity Designs
Though my sketching phase was relatively short for this project, I had more time to work on refining the high fidelity screens. The biggest change from sketches to high fidelity came in the form of making all the menus into radial menus in order to optimize them for AR.
User Testing & Prototyping
The user testing process for ARunway was slightly challenging, as presenting an AR application as a 2D clickable prototype was not super easy to convey to users. Luckily I was able to get extremely helpful feedback on my designs during the process. I was also able to build a rough mock-up of one of the screens by using Adobe Aero, in order to get a better idea of how the assets would look in a 3D space.
